About The Gift of Groceries (TGOG)

LifePointe works closely with New Hope Church in South Sacramento to provide volunteer manpower for their Gift of Groceries ministry. With the help of 170 volunteer hours/week, TGOG provides free food for approximately 300 needy families in our community, every Thursday at their church site.

Last year, in the midst of COVID, this ministry served over 48,000 people with over 1 million pounds of groceries in 2020. LifePointe volunteers delivered over 44 tons (or 90,000 lbs) of those groceries last year.

We are always looking for volunteers for this ministry!

We reached a new record of recipients served during March. For the first time in TGOG history we served over 600 families in one day. I believe that number will continue to climb in the coming months due to the high cost of gas and food as well as the steep rate of inflation that are experiencing.

With these increases we need additional volunteers to deal with the large number of new recipients. Prior to the pandemic we averaged between 260 and 280 families a week. We have now doubled that number by serving an average of 575 families a week. Your help is needed for this important ministry that serves our community!
