Job Title: Adult Ministries Pastor

Reports To: Executive Pastor
Location: LifePointe Christian Church (Elk Grove, CA)
Status: Full‑time Directorial Employee (FTDE), Exempt | Salary | 45+ hrs/wk


Summary:

The Adult Ministries Pastor is a dynamic leader who cares for people and helps mobilize them—someone who combines strength of vision with deep empathy. He is respected for his authority and clarity, and loved for his ability to listen, connect, and uplift those he leads. He leads with purpose, inspires others to move together towards the church’s vision, and is guided by a devotion to our mission of pointing people to life in Jesus.

This key leadership role involves recruiting, equipping and empowering leaders, developing discipleship pathways, and fostering a culture of spiritual growth within the adult community. The Adult Ministries Pastor will provide vision and strategic direction for a multitude of ministries, such as GroupLife, Community Outreach, and Men’s and Women’s Ministries, as well as develop classes/workshops, and create other ministry opportunities that encourage connection, transformation, and service. 

Leadership of approximately 20 high level leaders, staff member(s), and approximately 175 volunteers

 


Key Responsibilities:

 

Adult Discipleship & Spiritual Formation

Create and curate discipleship content and initiatives aligned with LifePointe’s Church on Mission framework and other church-wide spiritual growth strategies. Empower, care for, and provide strategic direction to volunteer leaders to ensure alignment with the church’s discipleship mission. 

  • Oversee baptism preparation, classes, and Baptism Team coordination.
  • Create, host, and/or teach “How to” workshops and other equipping environments.
  • Manage and support the Prayer Team

GroupLife

Provide visionary leadership and oversight for GroupLife (LifeGroups, Rooted Groups, Demographics, Community Groups, and Resource & Recovery Groups).

  • Recruit, train/coach, and release group leaders to foster healthy and multiplying groups with attention and care for new people who attend their groups/events
  • Provide leadership for enrichment efforts and initiatives for demographic-specific ministries, including LP Men, Women, Marriage, and 55+.

Local Outreach & Community Engagement

Strengthen our impact within our city by holding fast to our never changing essentials while pursuing innovative ways to reach Elk Grove’s unsaved. Shepherd our church family in cultivating a heart for the lost and a passion for carrying out our mission. 

  • Lead all‑church outreach events and initiatives that connect our church to the community.
  • Oversee local mission projects, including service days and developing partnerships with local organizations.

Pastoral Care

Shepherd people through the various stages and seasons of life and provide spiritual guidance and encouragement as they grow in their relationship with God. Lead people toward their next steps. Provide care in times of need. 

  • Provide pastoral care through calls, follow‑up, and relational shepherding.
  • Oversee pastoral elements of LP Cares and work with assigned staff (i.e. Cares Coordinator) on meals, prayer requests, and support services (hospital, funeral, weddings, etc).

Supervisory Responsibilities of Staff & Volunteers

Commit to relentlessly pursuing personal and leadership development for both yourself and your team. Coach and develop others with the intent of multiplying and empowering people for the mission.    

  • Provide leadership and care, in alignment with LP Staff Values and Culture, to Cares Coordinator.
  • Lead the volunteer appreciation and care strategy across Adult Ministries, developing systems and rhythms to recognize, encourage, and care for volunteers.
  • Provide pastoral presence and support to teams through regular follow-up and check-ins.

Communications

Clearly and effectively communicate with the church family and those outside the LP community to provide information and help people take next steps.

  • Participate as a member of the Teaching Team: offer biblically accurate, culturally relevant, life application teaching in weekend services, groups, and classes
  • Provide information to the church family, utilizing in-person meetings, videos, stage announcements, etc.

Team Participation

Be an active and engaged participant within the LP Staff, demonstrating the Staff Values and contributing to the cultural health of the team. Communicate clearly and effectively with other ministry departments. Lend a hand to other teammates, as needed. 

  • Help shape the direction of the church by working in collaboration with other members of the Directional Leadership Team, when assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, has taken the obedient step of believer’s baptism, and has a vital, growing personal relationship with God.
  • 3+ years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience, preferably in adult discipleship or care ministries.
  • Strong communicator with relational, team‑oriented leadership skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to lead multiple projects and volunteers simultaneously.
  • Emotionally intelligent with high relational capacity and pastoral instincts.
  • Self‑starter who thrives in a collaborative, flexible, fast‑paced ministry environment.
  • Familiarity with church management systems, communication platforms, and Google Workspace preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and manage weekend and evening responsibilities.
